Regarding the style, the owners decided to develop the concept of a luxury villa with architecture inspired by the best Asian resorts like The Datai, Amanpuri in Thailand and Four Seasons Langkawi.

Specifically, ensuring the design could be inspired by the vernacular Malaysian and Southeast Asian architecture with traditional roofs, indoor and outdoor feel, outdoor pavilions, and a curated landscape that uses local vegetation as much as possible. All are built around sustainable concepts, starting from leveraging local materials and recycled woods, maximising rainwater harvesting and using energy-efficient equipment to minimise electricity consumption.

To bring this project to life, they engaged Pentago Architects, who have extensive experience developing tropical resorts, private residential villas, and incredible tropical landscapes for leading projects in Asia, including the current landscaping of PNB 118.

Jordan Chen, founder of JC Interior Design, whose work covers Jakarta to Shanghai, was entrusted with the interior design.

The design was centred around recreating the experience for the owners and guests in a luxury tropical resort villa.

Therefore, the whole architecture, landscaping, and interior design were designed to create a relaxed luxury that is immersed in the ocean and forest views.

What resulted is a villa with a total built-up area of approximately 1150 sq m indoors and 650 sq m of open areas.

It spans three floors, has five bedrooms, and offers a plethora of amenities, including a large 32-meter curved infinity-edge pool, breakfast and dinner pavilions, and lush outdoor gardens spanning 1 hectare.

Villa Vista’s charm lies in its seamless integration with nature. 

“The vast facade of the villa is clad with natural stone, embracing the identity of the rocky mountains of Langkawi,” notes Chen. The interior features reclaimed wood wall panelling, adding character while minimising environmental impact.

As guests step into Villa Vista, they’re greeted by a circular void framing a picturesque horizon.

“The open-plan living and dining area seamlessly melds with the outdoor expanse, forging a harmonious union between the indoors and outdoors,” says Chen. Serene chill-out corners, al fresco dining spaces, and an infinity pool beckon those who revel in open-air living.

Furniture and decorative elements sourced directly from Bali adorn Villa Vista, infusing the space with a distinct charm. “Bali furniture, renowned for its unique style, complements the reclaimed wood interior finishing,” says Chen. A curated collection of paintings by local artist Gin Poh adds flair to the villa.

For the owners, Villa Vista transcends luxury—it’s their private haven. Chen sums it up: “The villa is the clients' home away from home. It gives them instant comfort from the commotion and bustle of the city. A monthly getaway to the villa is a must!”
