Entitled Quiet Lines, the four-piece collection comprises a writing desk, bedside table, bench, and a folding screen. Designed to elevate daily rituals in the bedroom, the collection embodies elements of simplicity and timelessness with its use of clean lines and soft curves. Padded surfaces crafted in fine-grained leather add to the sense of visual softness that aims to soothe the mind; this forms a pleasing contrast with the rigidity of its steel and smoked glass elements. Every component in this line can be individually reupholstered or repaired when needed, adding to the timelessness of the collection.

Having designed numerous luxury hotels and restaurants around the world, Hong Kong-headquartered practice AB Concept knows more than a thing or two about what it takes to create durable yet timeless designs. Led by founders Terence Ngan and Ed Ng, the dynamic duo has channeled that experience into their product designs. This can be seen in new collections such as the Gebrüder Thonet Vienna Hagu chair, which considers both the aesthetic and practical needs of the finest dining establishments around the world.

Designed for Gebrüder Thonet Vienna, the Hagu chair by AB Concept pairs the brand’s bent-wood-making techniques with a slim metal frame and an angled upholstered seat. The plywood back is curved around the structure in a way that appears like a hug. The curving frame makes it easy for the chair to be pulled out from the table for guests.

“The fluid and open-arm profiled wooden back of the Hagu chair envelop you in a warm embrace, while the plush upholstered seat invites you to sit and stay awhile,” describes Ed Ng, co-founder of the Hong Kong-based design firm AB Concept.

Among his new designs is the Gervasoni Kasane table, which features an intriguing overlapping design that makes the furniture appear like a sculptural object. Its unusual form takes inspiration from the silhouette of stacked cups; the tiered structure is made with polymer foam, which supports a tactile tabletop coated in a thin layer of concrete in finishes inspired by terracotta and sand.
