Unlike many online investment platforms, Kelvin Lee’s three-year-old brainchild, Fundnel, emphasises inclusivity. This means that the firm makes it a point to engage with everyday businesses such as coffee shops, cafes and provision stores that were previously not accessible for investment by the local community that patronises them. The 33-year‑old explains, “Fundnel creates a necessary step in elevating interest in supporting hyperlocal brands and businesses.” For its efforts, Fundnel has been endorsed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore, and also secured an exemption from the Australian Securities and Investments Commission granting the company full discretion to provide financial services within Australian territories.
