One of The Local People’s selling point is its use of unconventional spaces, and it is co-founder Pin Goh’s ability to see opportunity literally everywhere—think carpark rooftops, shipping containers and even underneath a viaduct—that has contributed to the company’s growing fan base. The 32-year-old part-time guitar teacher says her ability to see potential in the unremarkable drew her to this enterprise to help “struggling artists, musicians and designers with no place to sell their wares”. She counts her grandfather, an entrepreneur who started his own construction business, as her motivation.
