Lim Chong Tee
Potable tap water is a privilege that we often take for granted, but it is a lesson that is not lost on Lim Chong Tee. A trip to a rural Cambodian village at age 19 would forever change his life. “I came to realise that I had a role: to share what I have learned with the world,” says the chief marketing officer of social enterprise Wateroam. With his two other co-founders, Vincent Loka and David Pong, and their team, the 26-year‑old is currently developing Roamfilter Plus, a new water filtration system that can cater to a community of 150 people. It needs no electricity and can provide 250l of clean water per hour through a hand pump. His ultimate goal is “to build a world where no man shall face prolonged thirst”. He cuts loose by street dancing and drawing.
