Gentle Bones, whose real name is Joel Tan, has a music career that many homegrown acts can only dream of. In 2016, the 23-year-old singer-songwriter became the first Singaporean to win the prestigious Super Nova Award at the Hong Kong Asian Pop Music Festival and the first on Forbes’ inaugural 30 Under 30 list for entertainment and sports personalities in Asia. In 2015, he was the first local artist to be signed by music label Universal Music Singapore. He has had two sold-out concerts at the Esplanade Concert Hall, but remains level headed about his journey to stardom. “I used to love making music for my friends and somehow everyone started listening to me,” he says. Stay tuned for his new album coming out later this year.
