At 29, Carolyn Kan was appointed managing director of advertising agency M&C Saatchi—no mean feat for a woman in a male-dominated industry. Years later, she fell in love with jewellery making after learning how to make her first ring from a silversmith in Florence, Italy. After jewellery line Carrie K was born, she started Keepers, a pro bono initiative spotlighting independent designers, artists and artisans in Singapore. She says, “I aspire to reawaken the inner child in everyone. We need imagination to create fresh solutions to old problems.”
