Human beings have a natural longing to leave a legacy and Anngee Neo is no different. She says, “I hope the children who read my books grow into adults who remember fondly the moments they spent reading them, and perhaps one day pick up the same books for their own children.” This is more than just a pipe dream—Anngee was the artist behind Chew Chia Shao Wei’s award-winning The Rock and the Bird. She says, “I want my work to stand out well enough so it’d convince more Singaporean publishers to commission local illustrators and authors to do picture books that are non-didactic and more experimental in nature.”
