The Filipino athlete scored a double gold finish at the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup Series held in Baku, Azerbaijan this month
The Philippines’ Carlos Yulo won two gold medals at the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup Series, which was held in Baku, Azerbaijan this month.
Yulo missed out on the floor exercise but made up for it on the parallel bars to score his first gold. He bested Ukrainian gymnast, Illia Kovtun, with a score of 15.400, whereas Kovtun garnered a 15.366.
Yulo’s second gold came from the men’s vault, where he showed a masterful performance with a handspring double front pike that gave him a score of 15.033. Overall, Yulo garnered a 14.933 score, beating out Harry Hepworth from Great Britain.
In 2022, Yulo also made headlines when he won five gold medals at the Southeast Asian Games.
Yulo is now set to join the last edition of the World Cup Series in Egypt in April.
