On June 14, we celebrated the 30 honourees from Malaysia on this year’s Tatler Gen.T List with a dinner at the Frangipaani restaurant

In celebration of the 30 honourees from Malaysia on the Tatler Gen.T List 2023, a sit-down dinner was organised at the Frangipaani restaurant in Damansara Heights, an upscale suburb on the western side of Kuala Lumpur.

The Leaders of Tomorrow event was attended by more than 50 guests. This included 2023 honourees Danutcha Catriona Singh, Mohd Nizam Abdul Razak, Melvin Chee as well as past years’ honourees Shin Tseng, Zac Liew and Khairun Nisa Zabidi. Yasmin Rasyid, Bikesh Lakhmichand, Adlin Yusman and Omar Mahmoud were also in attendance as members of the Gen.T Tribe, the expert panel that helped to decide the final list of honourees on this year’s list.

During the event, Bell & Ross dressed honourees Justin Chan, Zare Lee, Shin Tseng and Mark Koh with the urban contemporary BR-X5 watch. In addition, every guest walked home with a special gift pack with products from beauty sponsor Clé De Peau.

Tatler Malaysia’s Elyza Khamil welcomed guests as the evening’s emcee before she invited managing director Geraldine Beh and Gen.T’s Malaysia editor Chong Jinn Xiung to share their opening remarks.

Later, 2020 Gen.T honouree Erman Akinci, who co-founded the co-working company Common Ground, took to the stage for a fireside chat moderated by Chong. During the discussion, he shared how he scaled his company to become one of the most prominent co-working players in the region and why he chose to join hands with other regional players to form the Flexi Group.

Guests were also given a preview of two upcoming initiatives by Gen.T’s regional senior editor Chong Seow Wei, who flew in from Singapore. The first was a project four years in the making: the Tatler Gen.T Summit, which will take place on November 9 and 10 in Hong Kong. The event is expected to bring together Asia’s most influential entrepreneurs for a series of engaging talks, networking and unique experiences at the stunning M+ museum.

The second initiative she shared was Gen.T’s new socially driven NFT collection. Titled the Phoenixes of Tomorrow, this exclusive series of 180 NFTs are the unique identities of the young leaders on the Tatler Gen.T List 2023. Launching alongside this collection is a Friends of Phoenixes NFT collection, which will enable the 2023 honourees to pay it forward and give back to society. While the Phoenixes of Tomorrow collection cannot be owned by anyone other than the honouree it was gifted to, the Friends of Phoenixes NFTs are available for purchase to raise funds for a good cause.

In Malaysia, proceeds from this collection will be donated to Yayasan Chow Kit, a non-profit organisation catering to the needs of children and teenagers around Kuala Lumpur’s Chow Kit area. Dato Dr Hartini Zainudin, who helms the organisation and is also a Gen.T Tribe member, shared about the work of Yayasan Chow Kit during the event.

The event culminated in the official introduction of the 30 honourees from Malaysia on the Tatler Gen.T List this year. All new honourees were invited for a group photo to commemorate the moment before heading off for more feasting and networking.
