Roland Ros of Kumu, a Philippine-based mobile streaming app, has signed a partnership with overseas recruitment agency, Ikon Solutions, to benefit overseas Filipino workers

Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) are an integral part of the Philippine economy. In 2022, they contributed 8.9 percent of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP)—making them the second largest source of foreign capital after value-added exports. The remittances sent home by OFWs play a vital role in bolstering the country’s economy, funding education, and health care and improving the overall quality of life for their loved ones back in the Philippines.

Acknowledging the importance of OFWs, Roland Ros, founder and CEO of Kumu signed the partnership with Ikon Solutions on Kumu’s fifth anniversary earlier in August 2023. Ros is a seasoned tech innovator who wants to mentor future generations of leaders and entrepreneurs.

With an unemployment rate of 4.5 percent as of June 2023, the Philippines has been struggling to close the gap between workers and job opportunities. The demand for OFWs has been on the increase and deployment is expected to exceed 1.2 million. Ikon Solutions, an overseas recruitment agency with 15 years of experience, has continuously served as a bridge for Filipinos aspiring to work abroad.

Paolo Martel, president of Ikon Solutions, signed the agreement with Ros. Together, they will pioneer an online “Kumunity” dedicated to offering overseas job opportunities to Filipinos.
