An Evening With Some Of Rugby's Biggest Names At The World Cup Rugby Gala Dinner

Avid fans of the rugby sport gathered together at the Shangri-La Hotel Singapore for an evening of revelry as hosted by the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore last Thursday. The gala was done in light of the upcoming Rugby World Cup season this year, which will be held in Tokyo from September 20 till November 2. The highly anticipated quadrennial tournament will see the top international teams on the playing field, including the likes of England, Australia and New Zealand, which garnered the most cheers as highly supported teams in the ballroom.
After kicking things off with a rugby trivia game of heads or tails hosted by the sport's expert and commentator Justin Sampson, three former rugby professionals including Shane Byrne, who played for the Irish rugby union, Eric Rush, one of the world's foremost Sevens rugby player, and Brian Moore, 1991 Rugby World Player of the Year and former England and British Lions player, took to the stage to share personal memories and highlights of their professional careers. The trio left the audience in fits of laughter throughout the evening as they shared some of their most memorable experiences, from hilarious locker room encounters with teammates and dieticians to heartfelt moments before or after a match.
Much to everyone's surprise, current Australian rugby union player Tatafu Polota-Nau graced the occasion too as he coincidentally stopped over in Singapore that day. The gracious sportsman even participated in the live auction segment, which eventually won him a relaxing holiday stay.
