While Bulgari might be known for its extravagant jewels, its watches have started to slowly but surely gain traction with discerning watch collectors. Boasting a certain Italian flair and meticulous attention to detail, the watches are crafted by talented artisans at its Swiss manufactures, and stand out for their refined and elegant aesthetics, as well as their technical prowess.

In fact, since 2014, Bulgari has broken no less than seven world records for its Octo collection, crafting the slimmest watches in the world. Among these are the perpetual calendar, tourbillon chronograph, as well as a minute repeater.

To delve into the minutiae of Bulgari's watches, Tatler friends such as John Lim and Marcus Ang joined the Tatler and Bulgari teams over two evenings of watch and whisky appreciation. A lively conversation with Bulgari's watch brand ambassador Ivan Kwan ensued, where they indulged in a dynamic discussion about the challenges of creating slim watches, as well as the storied history of the Octo collection.

The guests then adjourned to the Tatler Bar, where they engaged in their palates in a spirited tasting session of diverse whiskies, including the Taketsuru Pure Malt, Michter’s Single Barrel Rye, The Dalmore King Alexander III and the Ledaig 11 Year Old Single Cask.
