This past November, Singapore Tatler guests were treated to two days full of the glitter and glamour of precious jewels at our inaugural Jewellery Assembly. The event brought together four outstanding jewellers to impart their gem sourcing and jewellery making expertise with the crowd. For this first Jewellery Assembly, we were pleased to be working with a panel of home-grown jewellery brands, all of whom had previously been awarded the title of Tatler's 10 Singapore Best Jewellers.
Each of the four brands—Caratell, Jaipore by Ritu Aurora, Simone Jewels, and Yuli Inc.—Fine Jewellery—had their own unique tales to tell. Caratell’s Michael Koh and Achillea Teng, for instance, shared stories about how they travelled to exotic landscapes to source for rare precious gems, while Jaipore’s Nihkil Aurora talked about the brand’s heritage and the cultural influences that guide the brand’s aesthetic in the modern day. Simone Ng spoke about transforming her abstract inspirations (the latest being poetry) into physical jewellery pieces for Simone Jewels, and Yuli’s founder Jessie Foo waxed lyrical about the precious nature of gemstones—even those we deem semi-precious are, after all, the result of millions of years of geological formation.
