Singapore Red Cross Diplomatic Night
"Happiness is contagious," declared Cheong Hai Poh, general manager of Grand Corpthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore, at the Singapore Red Cross Diplomatic Night. By spreading cheer and goodwill, he believes that people will become happier—and that was the main motivation for the hotel to join hands with the Red Cross to organise the first-ever Diplomatic Night. The evening saw ambassadors, high commissioners, consular representatives and business leaders gather for a session of networking.
Agreeing with Hai Poh was Zenon Kosiniak-Kamsyz, the Polish ambassador to Singapore, who pointed out in his speech that he was convinced of the efficacy of charity events co-organised by the Red Cross and the diplomatic corps. Last year, response to the charity events that the embassies took part in was overwhelming and greatly benefitted the underprivileged. Residents of the Red Cross Home for the Disabled also contributed 10 paintings for a silent auction, which had proceeds funding community services such as ElderAid, FoodAid and TransportAid.
