“Those who have more should share with those who do not have enough,” it was a simple belief shared by Koh Choon Hui, chairman of Singapore Children’s Society, at its Charity Gala Dinner 2019. You could say that this resonated with guests, who reached deep into their pockets in support of the charitable organisation’s final push for the year to raise much-needed funds for its 77 programmes run by 12 service centres throughout Singapore. True to the evening’s theme of “Opening Minds, Changing Lives”, the charity hopes to continue expanding the horizons of children, youths and their families. The gala dinner featured live and silent auctions of artworks and experiences, including three calligraphy works by the late Venerable Song Nian, which contributed to the over $760,000 raised that evening. Guests were also entertained with performances by youths from VOX @ Children’s Society, along with talents from StepUp Learning & Dance studio and singer-songwriter Jeff Ng.
