In celebration of its 70th Anniversary, Tee Tua Ba, Chairman of The Singapore Red Cross Society, addressed guests of the evening by walking down memory lane. "The Red Cross Society Singapore spearheaded and advocated for significant initiatives for developing social and community resilience", shared Tee, "the volunteers were the first responders at local disasters, including the Bukit Ho Swee fire and floods in Potong Pasir." 70 years on, and the society continues to exemplify the power of humanity in action with the evening being a joyous celebration of that.
Hosted by James Yang and veteran performer Hossan Leong, guests were wildly entertained by the comedic duo, and enjoyed a fiery flamenco performance by the Flamenco Sin Fronteras, accompanied by flamenco guitarist, Alberto Marin. Later in the evening, President Halimah Yacob surprised the chairperson of the organising committee and society stalwart, Peggy Jeffs, with an Outstanding Service Award to acknowledge her unwavering support over the years. As dinner commenced, a live auction was also held during the evening to raise funds for the society's efforts to alleviate human suffering. But among the items on auction, a Piaget Limelight Tonneau-shaped watch stole the show as it has approximately 978 brilliant-cut diamonds, and was sold for a price tag of $118,200.
