Fact: each year, about 17.5 million people die from cardiovascular disease around the world, making it the biggest killer globally. That is why the National Heart Centre Singapore (NHCS) hopes to raise funds to support financially needy heart patients; patients whose conditions require novel treatments; and the education and training of cardiac healthcare professionals at its biennial Heart to Heart Gala. This year's edition is even more significant for NHCS as it fetes 20 years of its establishment. Guest were treated to a special collaborative five-course dinner by chefs Julien Royer, Cheung Siu Kong, Beppe De Vito and Jean-Georges Vongerichten, all of whom helm Michelin-starred restaurants. Wine connoisseur N K Yong—a renowned heart surgeon himself—and his wife, Melina Yong, also curated an exquisite wine list for the dinner, to the delight of the guests. A total of S$2,038,250 was raised that evening with the proceeds going towards NHCS's Heart To Heart Fund.
