Amidst the flurry of parties during Art Basel Hong Kong 2018, Loro Piana's event was a particularly memorable one. The cocktail marked the Italian luxury brand's first foray into the arts. Members of the Loro Piana family, local celebrities, Tatler friends as well as select collectors and editors from around the globe gathered at H Queen's to celebrate The Gift of Kings—the title of the creative installation, which also refers to the highest-grade Merino wool in the world.

The immersive, tactile exhibition was like a serene oasis floating above Hong Kong. It housed three distinct parts—Woolen Rain, Woolen Waterfall, and Woolen Waves—each detailing the journey of the noblest of wools. Guests could enter the cloud-like structure from any point, and were encouraged to touch everything. Surrounding the central area were swings that looked onto Hong Kong’s breath-taking cityscape, adding to the exhibition’s ethereal atmosphere. Finally, guests were invited to take home a memento: a swatch of this rare fabric emblazoned with inspiring phrases.
