Culture and charity dominated during an SG50 dinner hosted by Credit Suisse at the Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore in October. Attended by clients and guests including Kuok Khoon Hong, Kwek Leng Beng and Melanie Chew, it featured musical talents Corrinne May and the CHIJ Our Lady of Good Counsel Choir. In his address, president Tony Tan Keng Yam noted how the bank has contributed to shaping Singapore’s financial landscape for over 40 years. A highlight was the signing of a specially commissioned painting by Ong Kim Seng. Entitled The Rising City, it is his first depiction of Singapore’s new financial landscape, and was auctioned along with two of his other artworks for charity. Some $100,000 was raised for the Melrose Home.
