Just like carbon that turns into diamond when under pressure, young people can be empowered to reach their full potential. This is the mission of the Halogen Foundation, which celebrated 15 years of youth development work with a Yellow Diamond Gala Dinner in August at Sheraton Towers Singapore. Along with a customised dinner by the hotel’s chef Eric Cheam, guests enjoyed a youth-centric entertainment in the form of LED Tron Dancers and 19-year-old singer Jermaine Leong, winner of television singing contest The Final 1. The National Young Leader awards were also presented at the event. About $540,000 was raised that evening to continue the non-profit organisation’s work in building young leaders and entrepreneurs.
