More than 800 professionals from the Academic Medical Centre (AMC) gathered for an opulent evening of celebrations at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore last month for the annual SingHealth Duke-NUS Gala Dinner. The event was held to raise funds for medical research to better the lives of those who have accepted and are going through medical treatments. Also in attendance that night were Tatler friends Caroline Low-Heah and June Rin, who were both featured in the September issue of the magazine.
Group CEO of SingHealth, Professor Ivy Ng, addressed guests on the purpose of the evening with a heartwarming speech. "While medicine has evolved over many years, disease knows no limits. Medical research offers hope for prevention of diseases, earlier prognosis, treatment, and earlier outcomes", shared Ng, "everything that we do focuses on how we can help our patients".
The gala then acknowledged the generous donations by the Goh Foundation and The Ngee Ann Development, who have come forward with a total sum of $52m to further the medical landscape.
