It was a happy gathering of mummies at Flower Diamond’s Mother’s Day luncheon, hosted by founder and owner Belinda Chua. About 75 friends and customers turned up and were first greeted by Glen Wee, a dashing crooner (what’s it about a man bun that lends insta-cred to a musician?) whose smooth vocals signalled what was to come—a delightful afternoon filled with loud chatter that was rivalled only by the oohing and ahhing at the jewellery. Overheard at the sparkly showcase: “I’m getting these earrings and charging them to his card. Happy Mother’s Day to me!”
For the effervescent Belinda, it was a chance to sit back, relax and leave the running of this year’s show to Sabrina Ho, her 26-year-old daughter who was the event manager for the day. “Mum has been planning this luncheon for 10 years!” says Sabrina. “I think it’s time someone else took on the stress. It’s my little Mother’s Day gift to her!”
