What does it take to be an angel investor? This was the hot topic when social enterprise Crib joined hands with 500 Startups, a Silicon Valley-based global venture capital seed fund and start-up accelerator, for the latest edition of its investor networking events in October. Ashraf Sinclair, venture partner of 500 Startups, sat down with Huang Shao-Ning, partner of Entrepreneur First, angel investor and mentor, and Veronica Colondam, chairperson of YCAB Ventures, CEO of YCAB Foundation, and group CEO of YCAB Group in Indonesia, and discussed their respective journeys from building successful businesses to becoming angel investors. They also shared tips on early-stage investing and how to assess the potential of young companies to ensure investments bear fruit, while being aware of the risks at the same time.
