Amid laughter and the occasional birthday song being sung on some tables, this gala dinner saw kindred spirits come together to celebrate the milestones of BMW and gawk at hot new models, including the au courant BMW i8 Roadster (a plug-in hybrid) and the very sexy BMW Z4 that made its first appearance in Asia right here on this evening. Tatler guests Shaun Tay and Adrian Mah tried to take the BMW Concept X7 iPerformance for a spin around the hall. It was a foolhardy attempt but it earned the gentlemen the promise of first dibs once the car is launched!
Rounding up the evening was American pianist Julian Lawrence Garguilo, who delivered a pitch-perfect performance by combining comedy with brilliant keyboard skills. But what truly stole the show and everyone’s hearts was the little yellow Isetta in the Heritage corner – the strange-looking microcar built by BMW in 1955 that served as a reminder that truly authentic innovations of any given day will continue to inspire joy and passion for generations to come.
