It was an evening of over-the-top headgear and unexpected karaoke performances when the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) hosted its Brazilian Extravaganza-themed benefit gala in November. Following a welcome act by dancers from Bantus Capoeira Singapore, who shimmied with guests into the ballroom at Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore, Carla, Deborah and Megan Barker belted out to Brazilian songs on stage. Live band Locomotion then took over the stage to play foot-tapping tunes. Brazilian ambassador Luis Fernando de Andrade Serra even took the mic for a number, before being joined by the equally vivacious ambassadors of Chile, Cuba and Israel in a group performance.
