Known for the epic parties he throws, automotive garage director Alex Low organised a Chinese New Year dinner for his close friends and business associates at the Grand Ballroom of Capella Singapore earlier this month. Held on the fourth day of the Lunar New Year, the dinner saw everyone turn up in their festive best ranging from men in modern versions of the changshan to women in contemporary qipao, and dresses in different shades of crimson. The generous host treated guests to a whole array of delicacies such as double-boiled sea whelk soup with conpoy, bamboo pith and chicken, and steamed garoupa, which kept everyone happy and immensely satisfied. And what is an Alex Low party without some theatrics? Besides an impressive lion and dragon dance, there was a Chinese opera face-changing act, and a fashion show starring several of his pals and himself parading new Roger Dubuis timepieces, which got the crowd excited and cheering.
