The Singapore arts sector received a $51.6m boost in cash and in-kind contributions from arts patrons in 2017. These generous hearts were honoured by the National Arts Council (NAC) at its annual Patron of the Arts Awards ceremony and dinner in July. NAC CEO Rosa Daniel reiterated the importance of private arts patronage in helping “the arts industry to realise NAC’s vision for the next five years in building a more sustainable arts ecosystem in Singapore”. This year’s awards saw 80 new patrons, including Goh Swee Chen, Rin Nan Yoong and real estate developer Yunnan Realty, who were celebrated alongside long-time patrons such as City Developments Limited and The Hokkien Foundation. NAC recently launched an arts advocacy campaign, A World Filled with the Arts, to raise awareness about the value of and giving to the arts.
