The top eight women’s tennis players in the world descended upon Singapore in October for the 2017 BNP Paribas WTA Finals. But before the eight-day tournament kicked off, Simona Halep, Garbiñe Muguruza, Karolina Pliskova, Elina Svitolina, Venus Williams, Caroline Wozniacki, Jelena Ostapenko and Caroline Garcia swopped their sports attire for cocktail dresses to walk the purple carpet at the Gala Evening, which featured the Official Singles Draw Ceremony. The event also saw the presentation of the annual WTA Player Awards, where Muguruza was named the 2017 Player of the Year. The evening culminated in a fashion show featuring local designers including Ong Shunmugam and Peter Kor, with performances by homegrown rapper and 2017 Gen.T lister Shigga Shay, The X Factor Australia’s Natalie Ong, and Akademi Fantasia’s Aisyah Aziz.
