Big hearts who gave generously to the arts—a total of $64.7m in cash and in-kind contributions in 2016—were honoured by the National Arts Council (NAC) at its annual Patron of the Arts Awards ceremony and dinner in July. NAC CEO Rosa Daniel thanked the invaluable partners who have helped “develop artistic excellence and capabilities, expanding access to and appreciation for the arts, and advancing the social value of the arts”. Among the first-time recipients this year was Alexander Tedja, chairman of Pakuwon Group, an avid art collector who made a long-term loan of a collection of paintings to the National Gallery Singapore. Christopher and Rosy Ho, who are long-time supporters of the Singapore Symphony Group, were also honoured.
