You’ll Soon Be Able To Get Prata and Chicken Rice in Las Vegas Thanks to Zouk Group
Singapore's local food scene will soon be enjoying more of the spotlight, but on an international scale, as Zouk Group introduces famous hawker favourites into their integrated resort in Las Vegas.
Last year, Zouk Group, the company behind Zouk club, RedTail Bar, Capital Kitchen, Capital and Phuture, announced that they would be partnering with Resorts World Las Vegas to create an integrated resort. This US$4.3 billion dollar resort is set to include immersive entertainment and lifestyle concepts and is Zouk's first venture in the United States. It is expected to open in the third quarter of 2021.
This week, Zouk Group announced that they would be bringing local hawker favourites such as Singapore's Boon Tong Kee chicken rice, Springleaf Prata and Geylang Claypot Rice to their Famous Foods Street Eats section of the resort.
Famous Foods Street Eats is a 24,000 square feet marketplace that is slated to house 16 stalls featuring the best hawker dishes throughout Asia.
Alongside Singapore's famed dishes will be Hong Kong's Ah Chun Shandong Dumplings, Thailand's Ten Suns Braised Beef and the Philippines' Pepita's Kitchen. Pepita's Kitchen is known for its stuffed roasted pigs.
Zouk added that their executive chairman, Hui Lim, and their chief executive officer, Andrew Li, has tasted many famous hawker dishes around Asia and had specifically chosen places with unique recipes, particularly those that had been passed down through family generations.
Li shared with Tatler Singapore: “Boon Tong Kee, Geylang chicken rice and Spring Leaf Prata were chosen as we believe they represent a diverse and mouthwatering selection of the culinary hawker offerings available in Singapore; being a foodie myself, each of these dishes create fond memories of my childhood growing up and I can’t wait to introduce them to the USA market!”
True enough, many of these recipes are authentically Asian and have their roots planted firmly in culture. Geylang Claypot Rice, for example, was founded over 40 years and earned a Michelin Plate in 2016. Their branch in Las Vegas will offer a traditional experience with meals being cooked slowly in traditional claypots.
Aside from Asian offerings, there will also be stalls at Famous Foods Street Eats that will serve western food. Some of these dishes will include Italian meals by chef James Trees who hails from Esther's Kitchen, a Las Vegas favourite. Other dishes will be fried chicken by James Beard, an award-winning chef.
Besides food, guests can also get drinks from the Famous Foods Center Bar. This will feature a beer system that automatically pours your drink for you. This beer system also will offer a rotation of cocktails, wines and beers from around the world.
Zouk Group added that more food and beverage concepts will be released in the coming weeks.
