With the opening of their new store at Terminal 2, the DFS Group is celebrating the occasion with over 100 whiskies. We tell you why it’s worth attending.

The DFS Group have expanded with another duplex store at Changi Airport Terminal 2. To toast this occasion, they are having their first Whiskey Festival from now until 10 September. If you’re travelling anytime soon, drop by any of their outlets at Terminals 2 and 3 for the various activities lined up for guests. Here are some highlights.

Whiskey Tastings and Events

Fridays and Saturdays at the duplex stores are made more exciting with a series of activities that will last until September. On these days, different whisky brands are highlighted in their special master classes and whiskey tastings, conducted by both DFS staff and the whiskies’ brand ambassadors.

The first three sessions saw guests enjoying Craigellachie, The Macallan and Maker’s Mark. This will be followed by House of House of Hazelwood (19 and 20 August) with global brand ambassador Jay Gray; Beam Suntory Japanese whiskies (26 August) with global brand ambassador Mike Miyamoto; Glenfiddich (2 and 3 September) with Asia Pacific brand ambassador Matthew Fergusson-Stewart, and Bruichladdic (9 and 10 September) with brand ambassador Richard Gillam.

Timings are from 3 to 5pm at The Whiskey House, Terminal 2 duplex, and 5.30pm to 7.30pm at The Long Bar at Raffles, located at DFS’ Terminal 3 outlet.

Signature Cocktails

Throughout the event, three cocktails are available for sampling at the Terminal 2 and 3 duplexes. These drinks use whiskies from Scotland, Japan and US to give you different flavour profiles.

The Blood and Sand, which uses Johnnie Walker Island Green Scotch whiskey, is more fruity and smoky; while the potent and slightly sweet Old Fashioned is mixed with Maker’s Mark bourbon from the US. The last offering is the refreshing Highball, which is given a Japanese twist with the addition of the Chita Japanese Whiskey.

Boozy Buys and More

At 15,520 sq ft, the new outlet spans two floors and carries over 900 products—from wines, spirits and even tobacco brands. The space is divided into sections like Wine Reserve, The Cigar Room and Whiskey House on the second floor.

At the wine section, you have over 350 labels from top wineries in Bordeaux, Burgundy, Italy, New Zealand and Portugal. Want to taste some of these wines? There’s an enomatic machine carrying 12 wines at a time; this allows you to sample the different bottles upon request. Over at the Cigar Room, there’s an assortment of finest and even rarest cigars imported from all over the world.

The second floor is reserved for the whiskies where a personal shopping experience awaits. With over 100 whiskies to try, the staff can curate a tasting experience for you based on your flavour profile. All bottles are neatly organised, making it easier for you to shop and go.
