Bid 2020 a sweet adieu at these restaurants and bars offering exclusive menus to mark the occasion

Pandemic or not, we need to give 2020 a proper goodbye (with safety measures in place, of course). Thankfully, the island’s top chefs feel the same, so they’ve made it easier for you with special food and drink menus to welcome the new year on a high note.

Now that we’ve also entered Phase 3 in Singapore, you can even celebrate in bigger groups (maximum of eight people). That said, it seems like 2021 is already off to a good start so let’s drink to that.

The casual restaurant and bar will close for a much-deserved facelift next year, but not before it welcomes the new year with a festive five-course meal and a complimentary glass of Moet & Chandon brut champagne.

It’s the perfect start for the parade of contemporary Japanese dishes, some of which are the scallop tartare with shiso leaf tempura and seared tuna loin; Wagyu katsu with uni capellini; and Mentaiko tiger prawn with uni capellini. The monaka atsuki matcha ends the meal on a sweet note. Book here.

2/5 Gemma Steakhouse

After a brief closure in December, the popular steakhouse is back in business just in time for the New Year festivities. The culinary team has prepared a four- and six-course menu to make sure you enter the new year with full and satisfied bellies, with the likes of roasted Jerusalem artichokes decked with aged comté fonduta, taggiasche soil, winter truffle and smoked challans duck breast served with green lentils, raspberry beets and a drizzle of spiced jus.

Naturally, the highlight of the meal is the meat and you’ll dig into the beautifully grilled A5 Miyazaki Wagyu sirloin enhanced with kombu bagna cauda and mugnuli wild broccoli. The menus come with wine pairing. Book here.

3/5 Artemis Grill

Dining with a view on New Year’s eve will never get old, and this Mediterranean restaurant at CapitaGreen offers a majestic vista of the CBD—especially at night. On December 31, choose between two seatings (5pm or 7.30pm) and indulge in executive chef Oliver Hyde’s delicious four-course meal.

Standouts include the house-smoked quail, Fremantle octopus, and half-roasted Boston lobster. Mains are made for sharing, so opt for the beautifully grilled côte de boeuf or the flavoursome sole meunière—both served with chopped Greek salad and wild rice pilaf. Book here.

How does an Asian-inspired New Year’s eve feast sound? If it’s enough to make your mouth water, then bring your family here for a memorable meal of elevated nostalgic eats. Start with the Heritage Crisps, stuffed with emping belinjo, salted yolk fish skin, chilli crab cracker and Po’s signature sambal.

It whets the appetite for more deliciousness to come, including the raw marinated Hokkaido scallops with Fine de Claire oyster, kaffir lime and pomelo relish; charcoal-grilled kampung duck enhanced with pulled duck leg fritter, sweet turnip puree and aromatic duck jus. Dinner is the memorable pisang rai, or caramelised banana coated in peanut sesame crumble and topped with condensed milk ice cream. Book here.
