What to Expect at Luke’s Lobster’s First Restaurant in Singapore
As we continue to ride out the coronavirus pandemic, the closest experience we can get to "travelling" and discovering new experiences is through food. And that's why gourmands were ecstatic to find out that, after being delayed for a few months, New York’s famed Luke’s Lobster is finally opening its doors on September 23 (from 1 pm).
This marks the brand’s first foray into Southeast Asia, which currently has 22 food trucks and full-service restaurants across the US as well as 10 branches in Japan.
The 23-seater space (which was reduced to 17 due to social distancing) is located on the ground floor of the Isetan Scotts department store. But to give diners the authentic Luke’s Lobster experience, as if you were dining in New York, the seafood joint was fashioned after a classic seafood shack with the use of distressed wooden planks that add a rustic vibe to the overall contemporary setting.
Even the opening menu has stayed true to the core dishes of Luke’s Lobster, namely sustainably-sourced lobsters, premium crabs and shrimp served in Maine-style rolls. This means the chilled seafood are served atop griddled top buns with a dash of mayo, lemon butter and the brand’s top-secret seasoning.
The signature lobster, shrimp and crab rolls come in the standard four oz US size. But you also have the option to choose the sampler set which includes half a portion of each option. There’s also a selection of bisque and chowder to complete the meal, along with a variety of draught beers from Little Creatures and Hoegaarden.
Luke’s Lobster has been known to draw queues, which is why the Singapore outlet will also offer online pre-orders for takeaway through its own platform. Eventually, the brand will also be offering island-wide delivery, so seafood fans can enjoy the signature dishes in their own homes.
