TATLER FOCUS The family favourite pizza place just a stone's throw away from Shangri-La’s Rasa Sentosa Resort & Spa now boasts a refreshed look and bolder menu

Siloso Beach on Sentosa has always been a family-favourite destination, more so now that popular pizza joint Trapizza, which is located just five minutes away from
Shangri-La’s Rasa Sentosa Resort & Spa, has re-opened after a six-month renovation.

There is much to love about its fresh new look, which melds the light and breezy feel of Palm Springs, California with the island's tropical charms. Choose to relax in the main dining area under a canopy, al fresco on the beach or at the bar counters—rest assured, a panoramic view of the beach is guaranteed.

If you prefer to grab a quick lunch or snack to go, head to the constructed 1960s Kombi, which serves as the takeaway counter. Here, you'll find refreshing gelatos and beverages, as well as paninis and salads.

Now if you’re planning a long day out with the family, you could consider booking the fully air-conditioned private room, which accommodates up to 16 people. This way, adults can enjoy some privacy while the children entertain themselves at the activity centre, which has both a water play area and a dry play zone, as well as a colouring corner.

Whichever space works best for you, it's easy to appreciate the island-chic vibe, complete with gorgeous palm trees that surround the place, colourful water fountains and statement furniture.

The refreshed menu is also a stunning selection of authentic Italian fare worth savouring. Crafted by Turin native chef Allesandro Delle Cave, it boasts an extensive variety of dishes anchored on the belief that using premium ingredients (which the chef imports from his native country) creates the right and delicious balance of flavours.

Its signature wood-fired, thin-crust pizzas aside, there’s a bounty of new dishes that deserve a special mention. Delle Cave’s forte are pasta and risotto, which makes ordering the lamb ravioli and arancine alla Bolognese (little balls of cheesy goodness) a must. Both are signatures of his hometown in Italy.

It’s always a feast dining here, and the larger menu is the perfect reason to order additional servings of al dente orecchiette made more indulgent with a topping of foie gras, pappardelle with truffle shavings and the beautifully crisp and tender Milanese veal—to share, of course.

The reinvented cocktails are as captivating as the food. For example, the Pizzatini incorporates the flavours of pizza in a martini, while the Bloody Mary comes with a choice of meat or vegetarian skewers. That being said, an equally inspired selection of desserts and cakes-on-shakes should provide the sweet respite you desire.

With innovative dishes and drinks to look forward to, it’s safe to say that this is a destination for frequent gatherings.
