Classic brunch staples get a Peranakan makeover at Violet Oon’s Kitchen.

Weekend brunch staples get a Peranakan makeover at Violet Oon’s Kitchen. Every Saturday and Sunday, look forward to classic dishes with a local twist such as the French toast with gula Melaka and toasted panini with otak otak.

If it is nostalgic, comforting eats that you crave, order the Nasi Kuning, an abundant dish that includes sambal telor, chicken wings, otak otak, chilli sambal, onion salad, ikan bilis, white rice andglutinous rice with coconut cream, herbs and spices. Oon pays homage to her Eurasian heritage with the addition of corned beef hash with potatoes.

There are classic brunch items on the menu too. Scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, bangers and mash, and muesli with yoghurt and berries will hit the spot if you’re looking for a meal that doesn’t include Asian flavours.

Those with a craving for something sweet will enjoy the Nutella Quesadilla, Homemade Banana Bread or Oon’s famous Carrot Cake.

Violet Oon’s Kitchen’s Weekend Brunch is available on Saturdays and Sundays from 9.30am – 3pm.
