This year’s 51-100 list includes restaurants from 22 territories, including three from Singapore

The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2022 has announced its 51-100 list ahead of its annual awards ceremony, which will take place on July 18. This extended list was created to put the spotlight on a greater number of restaurants across the globe.

For 2022, the 51-100 list includes restaurants from 22 territories across 6 different continents, with Asia leading with 14 entries. These entries are spread across seven different cities, including three entries from Singapore. One of them is Burnt Ends by chef Dave Pynt, coming in at 94th place. The popular smokehouse and barbecue restaurant had previously appeared in the 2021 list, coming in at 34th place.

Additionally, this year’s list sees 20 spots claimed by new entries, among which include two local restaurants: Restaurant Zén and Meta. The former is a modern European restaurant led by executive chef Tristin Farmer and has placed 70th on this year’s list. The latter comes in 95th place and is helmed by chef Sun Kim who serves up Asian-fusion fare.

Other notable entries include Guadalajara’s modern Mexican restaurant Alcalde at 51st place; Melbourne’s Gimlet at Cavendish House, offering classic European flavours, at 84th place; and Dubai’s Trèsind Studio, serving up Indian fare, at 57th place. The latter is a new entry from the Middle East, a continent not included in previous lists.

“With restaurants across six continents, the 51-100 list this year recognises a broader range of destinations than we have ever seen before… This growth is great to witness as the gastronomic world continues to recover and rebuild following the huge challenges faced during the pandemic,” says William Drew, director of content for The World’s 50 Best Restaurants.
