So France Is The French Bistro-Epicerie We Never Knew We Needed
A slice of France has been brought to Singapore in the form of So France, a multi-concept store that carries all things French. Opened on March 21, its 5,000 sqft space is divided into a bistro, wine bar, epicerie and events space is the first of its kind realised by InVivo group, an agricultural and cooperative group, and AANA, the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Food Agency.
“Singapore’s community lends itself to such a diverse palate and appetite for experiencing new lifestyle perspectives,” says Pascal Hequet, general director of So France Singapore, adding that it is a chance for gourmands to reconnect with all the things they love about the country “Through our concept, we want people to feel like they can go to France without leaving Singapore.”

InVivo and AANA have worked closely with the artisanal producers to bring a range of products from every region in France, and more than half come from the Nouvelle-Aquitaine in the south west. In fact, So from the store's name means sud ouest and is translated as south west. Each item carries the Origine France Garantie label that certifies its authenticity.
There’s a large array of cheeses ranging from the quintessential blue cheese to the beloved raclette, among others. And just beside it is the wine room where you’ll discover an impressive range from artisanal winemakers such as the Blanc Limé and Rosé Limé from Bordeaux that you'll only be able to find here.
What else is there? A variety of cognac, armagnac, foie gras and the sweet-tasting bayonne ham. The latter, which is similar to prosciutto, is a special kind as it’s only from the “pie noir” (black food) pig breed and can only be produced in certain regions (similar to champagne).
The bistro is helmed by head chef Frederic Coiffe, who’ll be dishing out a well-curated menu that will seemingly transport you to the rustic regions of Europe. From the parmentier de canard to the escargots en persillade and Bordeaux-style rib-eye steak, your palates will be surely be satiated.
