Salted & Hung

Go for the: Glorious meat offerings
Trust chef Drew Nocente to bring out the big guns and create a tantalising Mother’s Day brunch. His speciality is meat and he won’t disappoint with a communal-style charcuterie and anti-pasti bar. It may seem simple, but wait until you get a load of the small and big plates; options include fried pig ears (if you want something novel); chicken thigh with jus gras and black garlic; and the crowd favourite, porchetta.

Top it up with freeflow prosecco and wine, as well as non-alcoholic beverages. Just because it’s mum’s day, she gets to dine for free with every three paying guests.

Go for the: Authentic Thai cuisine
We’re big fans of the authentic Thai cuisine at Thanying Restaurant. The specially-crafted set menu for Mother’s Day starts with the warm and comforting gaeng liang—a traditional herbal soup with shrimp and mixed vegetables—followed by popular favourites that include the stir-fried fish maw with dried mushroom and crab meat. New chef de cuisine Armando Aristarco is busy. After revamping the menu, he is now gearing up for Mother’s Day with a super-sized Sunday brunch. Rest assured that there is a lavish seafood spread as well as hot and cold starters, to share.

There’s no better place to spoil mum than at Lime at Parkroyal on Pickering, known for its delicious and gigantic buffet offerings. Must-tries are the raclette and foie gras stations offering thick, gooey cheese and soft, buttery foie gras topped with pancetta, fruits chutney and split jus, respectively.

If your mum wants to the continue the lunch celebration, bring her to this cosy café for its famous (since the 1970s) English Afternoon Tea. Take a seat at the breezy al fresco area and indulge in classic tea-time favourites.

Enjoy open-face sandwiches, cold delicatessen and roast of the day (it’s a surprise!) served with a glass of Laurent-Perrier champagne. If  you’re still craving for more, have the pork goulash hotpot or gluten-free pasta. End it with ice cream and your choice of tea or coffee.

Look forward to the braised classic whole abalone and sea cucumber and the stewed vermicelli with lobster in chef’s signature homemade X.O. chilli sauce.

Cap off the weekend with the popular dim sum brunch and go crazy over the 60 dim sum and signature delicacies. It includes the all-time favourites of steamed vegetarian dumplings with truffle and the deep-fried prawns in wasabi mayo sauce.

Go for the: leisurely brunch surrounded by nature
Why take mum in the CBD area when she can be surrounded in lush greenery at Botanico. Other than admiring nature, she can also partake in the four-course brunch menu highlighting chef’s specialities—from the fresh, zingy king crab salad to the succulent chargrilled wagyu steak. The desserts are also worth the calories, and chef has prepared the chamomile ice cream topped with crushed honeycomb and light rose foam.

It won’t be brunch without a cocktail or two, right? Just for the day, the resident mixologist will concoct the extra special Chocolate N’ Roses, which is a blend of milk, chocolate and strawberries, and the Watermelon Cooler, fresh and refresing and just what you need in this hot weather.
