The Tatler Bar recommends these four limited-edition Japanese whiskies, prized for their elegance and complex taste the distillery is known for

The Japanese are known for their passion, precision and excellence in their craft, and that holds true in making their whiskies, too. Enter Suntory's Yamazaki Distillery, Japan first and oldest whisky distillery that was founded by Shinjiro Torii in 1923.

Torii envisioned a whisky that was built on the traditional way of making Scotch whisky but was more suited to the Japanese taste. This gave birth to the Yamazaki Japanese whiskies we know today, which are famed by connoisseurs and collectors alike for their complex taste and delicate, well-rounded finish.

At TheTatlerBar.com, we've gotten our hands on four limited-edition releases that will elevate your drinking game.

1/4 Yamazaki 25 Year Old Limited Edition

Only 100 bottles of this single malt were produced, making this one of the most prized—and hard to find—expressions from Yamazaki Distillery. Aged for 25 years in the finest Sherry Oloroso sherry casks, each sip is an explosion of flavours that entices the palate with fruity flavours—think strawberry, pear and citrus. It culminates with a well-rounded and smooth finish, with hints of pepper and bitter notes typical of those aged in sherry casks. It even comes in a special packaging sealed with a Mizuhiki, a five-corded knot that represents joining of the hands.

2/4 Yamazaki 18 Year Old Mizunara Cask 2017 Edition

This is another rare offering from the distillery that deserves a special place in your whisky collection. What makes this desirable by whisky lovers? Master Blender Shinji Fukuyo used a blend of 18- to 50-year old whiskies matured in mizunara (Japanese oak), enriching the taste with layers of exotic spices, rich cinnamon and delicate fruits intermingled with deep coconut and orange marmalade. Its complex flavours make this expression an epitome of Japanese masterclass in whisky-making.
