Break fast in the comfort of your homes with familiar dishes from your favourite halal restaurants

This story was updated on May 8, 2020

This year, our Muslim friends are observing the holy month of Ramadan in the safety of their homes due to the Circuit Breaker measures currently in place. Rest assured, though, they can still choose to leave the cooking to the chefs who’ve created decidedly sumptuous iftar feasts for pick-up or delivery.

You may be missing the opportunity to gather at the restaurant for your iftar meal, but you can still enjoy the chefs’ attractive offerings. Enough for four to six people to share is the family bundle, comprising dishes such as crispy fried chicken, chilli prawns and stir-fried organic vegetables.

Dig into local favourites, too, such as a nicely rich and spicy beef rendang and sambal fish, or opt for the organic vegetable biryani. Whatever you decide on, don't feel guilty about finishing ending the meal on a sweet note with housemade baklava and coconut tarts. Click here to order.

2. Hilton Singapore

We all know the importance of eating well, especially after a day's fast. It’s also a good idea to break fast with these chefs’ Iftar To-Go menu.

For an apt meal to share, the Arabic Mezza Platter for two is laden with Middle Eastern delights, such as hummus and baba ganoush that you can soak up with pita bread. For flavours closer to home, the nasi ambeng set includes all the traditional favourites; think robust beef rendang, fiery sambal prawn and ayam lemak chilli padi, served with steamed jasmine rice. 3. The Halia

The restaurant has an à la carte menu, should you prefer to build your own feast. But you can also trust what the chefs have curated for their special Ramadan Feast, which also spotlights the restaurant's signatures.

Ideal for small families of up to three is the Spatchcock Ramadan Feast. Other than the Cajun-spiced spring chicken that's accompanied by mesclun salad and potato wedges, the menu also includes pulled lamb meat with homemade barbecue sauce served with crostini; chilli crab gratin; and a lemongrass and ginger prawn salad enlivened with fresh mangoes and tomatoes, paired with a ginger flower dressing. Click here to order.

4. Saltwater Cafe

This halal restaurant is an east-side favourite, but thankfully, its sumptuous Malay fare for your Iftar spread can be conveniently delivered islandwide.

There are three offerings available, and each one is enough for four. To help you decide, notable choices are the Ayam & Ikan Nasi Padang Set and the Ayam & Sotong Nasi Padang Set. The former will satisfy with flavoursome dishes like ayam masak merah (chicken in spicy tomato sauce), ikan goreng (deep-fried fish) and paceri nenas (pineapple relish).

The latter is equally sumptuous with tasty bites like ayam panggang (spicy roast chicken), sotong goreng and sambal terung (sambal eggplant). Both come with complimentary porridge and dates. Click here to order.

5. Fatburger

A less traditional iftar spread calls for burgers, milkshakes and fries. If that sounds like a plan, note that the halal-certified burger place is offering the aptly-named Fat Bundle that can feed up to 10 people.

Other than the customisable burgers made with freshly-made patties, sink your teeth into its Singapore exclusive classic hot dog or the chilli cheese dog, assembled with juicy chicken sausages, signature toppings and sauces, and brioche buns. Go with a variety of sides and have the sweet potato fries, chilli cheese fries and the onion rings, just because you can.

Complete the meal with its popular milkshakes, and just for this period, it's offering an additional ice cream flavour as a topping—caramel cookie crumble. Click here to order.

6. Atrium Restaurant

It's always a good idea to plan your iftar meal in advance, and this bundle meal needs to be pre-ordered two days in advance. It's worth the wait as the set is inclusive of sumptuous delights such as ayam ponteh, sambal prawns petai, nasi kuning, sayur lodeh and bur bur cha cha. If any of the dishes isn't to your liking, you can even replace it with another one from the same category. Click here to order.
