“A year after the inaugural launch of Michelin guide Singapore, our inspectors remain just as impressed by the dynamic nature of the local culinary scene,” says Michael Ellis, international director of the Michelin guide.
This is reflected in this year’s Bib Gourmand list, a diverse list of 38 restaurants, food stalls and hawkers that impressed the inspectors with their distinct, delicious cuisine at affordable prices.
In an interview with Michelin Guide Singapore, executive chef Stephane Istel says, “I am happy to be part of the Bib Gourmand list, and I am proud of my team and our achievements. This is important for us as our goal is to serve comfort food using amazing produce that is still affordable.”
Other fresh names on the list are Tsuta Ramen, the Singapore outpost of the popular one Michelin-starred Tsuta in Tokyo; Man Man Unagi Japanese Restaurant from chef Teppei Yamashita, who gave us Teppei Restaurant; and Blue Ginger, which continues to charm diners with its Peranakan cuisine.

Hawkers and street food stalls are still well represented on the list—a testament to the local food scene’s diversity—with Ah Er Soup, Zai Shun Curry Fish Head, Liao Fan Hawker Chan making the cut. The latter is an offshoot of Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice & Noodle from chef-owner Chan Hon Meng, who gained fame when his stall received one Michelin star last year.
Here are the nine new entrants to the Bib Gourmand 2017 list:
- Ah Er Soup
- Bar-Roque Grill
- Liao Fan Hawker Chan

- New Lucky Claypot Rice
- Shirokane Tori-tama
