Mikuni celebrates the return of matsutake season by creating a slew of a la carte dishes, a lunch bento and tasting menu created with this prized mushroom.

Matsutake mushrooms are known to be one of Japan’s most prized and luxurious mushrooms. Its slightly spicy flavour and distinctive aroma enrich chef Moon Kyung Soo’s modern Japanese dishes.

 

From now till 15 October, chef Moon will offer a series of a la carte dishes as well as a lunch bento and seven-course tasting menu created with these precious fungi.

 

The four dish strong a la carte menu will feature dishes such as Kagoshima Wagyu Sukiyaki and Matsutake Charcoal Grill with Miso, Ponzu and Salt. The lunch bento (S$150) includes a starter of Matsutake Mushroom “Dobin Mushi” Soup, a bento filled with Kyushu Abalone and Hokkaido Sea Urchin, a hot pot of Kagoshima Wagyu Sukiyaki and a seasonal Mikuni dessert. To enjoy the full affair, opt for the seven-course dinner (S$200 and S$320 with sake pairing).
