Marina Bay Sands' vice president of F&B Christine Kaelbel-Sheares tells us how we can make the most out of our visit.

The Bird Southern Table & Bar is known for its Llewlyn fried chicken, which you can sample at the event

Every year, thousands flock to the Marina Bay Sands' Epicurean Market for a chance to sample signature dishes (and more) from its line-up of celebrity chef restaurants. The fifth edition returns from August 11 to 13, promising to be bigger and better with over 70 participating booths, 40 masterclasses and 200 dishes on offer.

With an event this massive, we ask Christine Kaelbel-Sheares, vice president of F&B, Marina Bay Sands, about what we can expect, and useful tips to getting the most out of the experience.

Arrive early or stay late
“The doors open at noon on all three days, so go early with a big group of friends, soak in the atmosphere and make your rounds before the crowd starts streaming in. Those who want to linger until late into the night will witness the event turn into a party, with live music from 10pm to 2am on Friday and Saturday.”

Spot celebrity chef guests
“Once again, the Epicurean Market will be a star-studded affair with celebrity guest chefs Tetsuya Wakuda of Waku Ghin, Nancy Silverton of Osteria Mozza, David Thompson of Long Chim, John Kunkel of The Bird Southern Table & Bar and David Myers (Adrift).

They will be there alongside executive chefs Joshua Brown of Cut, Sabrina Stillhart of Bread Street Kitchen, Jonathan Kinsella of db Bistro & Oyster Bar, Hidemasa Yamamoto of Takumi Yamamoto and Greg Bess of Spago.”

There is also a chance to get aquainted with new faces Ralph Scamardella from MBS' new restaurant bar concept Lavo (slated to open early 2018), and Joey Sergentakis from Cé La Vi.

Check out new restaurant booths and experiences
“Rise will have the Singapore Street Food Experience—a first at the Epicurean Market. There are five booths named after famous streets such as Chinatown, Geylang and Newton Circus, offering an array of local delicacies, as well as a kampong bar serving hawker food-inspired cocktails. New restaurants this year include Ippudo, Angelina Café, Dallas Café & Bar, Seafood Paradise and Lavo.”

Attend cooking classes
“Other than the cooking demonstrations at the Street Food Experience, there’s a hands-on cooking demo with expert truffle hunter, Ivan Karlic. His family is renowned for taking visitors on breathtaking truffle-hunting experiences in the Istria region of Croatia. Here, participants can learn and taste seasonal truffles and experience cooking with fresh truffles under his expertise.”

Proof & Company will also have its own booth and will bring its treasure trove of whiskies and spirits you can purchase at the event

Attend whiskies and spirits masterclasses
“There are over 20 complimentary masterclasses conducted by some of our experts. We have Gibran Baydoun of Adrift talking about how to create an epic bar experience, as well as William Pravda of Bread Street Kitchen sharing tips on how to (set up) your own bar at home.

Whiskies and spirits lovers should check out the classes under The Connoisseur Series. An Adventure in the World's Finest Spirits, Cognac, Rum, Vodka & Whisky is a ticketed event where you’ll learn about and taste rare whiskies including Generous Gin, The Arcane Rum Cane Crush and Hardy XO Rare, while the Louis XIII Masterclass will focus on the heritage of the exquisite cognac. You’ll get to sample it too!”
