The French fashion house will bring the lauded pastry chef’s delicate chocolates to Singapore

Fans of pristine chocolates and desserts, you’ll have another spot to visit this month. Le Chocolat Maxime Frédéric at Louis Vuitton will open its doors on February 7 at the French luxury house’s Marina Bay Sands island store.

Those who have seen and tasted pastry chef Maxime Frédéric’s chocolates at Le Chocolat Maxime Frédéric at Cheval Blanc Courcheval will know that his chocolates carrying Louis Vuitton’s monogram are exquisite and intricate. Expect nothing less from the head pastry chef of Cheval Blanc, who was also named the Best Pastry Chef of 2022 by the Gault and Millau guide, a French restaurant guide founded in 1965.

Here in Singapore, the chocolates will be made with premium ingredients, including hazelnuts harvested from Frédéric’s farm in Normandy. Though we know little else on what to expect, a quick survey of Frédéric’s creations showcase a masterful grasp of savoir faire. Pristine log cakes emblazoned with the house’s iconic four-petal flower, for instance, look almost too pretty to eat, while the the Vivienne de Noël, created last Christmas, features a chocolate version of Louis Vuitton’s Vivienne doll atop a trunk, spun around by a functioning key.

The Singapore outlet marks Louis Vuitton’s first overseas chocolate shop outside of France, and a continuation of Frédéric’s close relationship with the fashion house. The Maxime Frédéric at Louis Vuitton café in Paris, for instance, serves up the pastry chef’s delicate desserts and pâtisseries, alongside savoury menu options. Last year, he also collaborated with chef Arnauld Donckele (who runs three-Michelin-starred La Vague d’Or at Cheval Blanc St Tropez) to run Louis Vuitton’s restaurant at the White 1921 Hotel.
