Showing our ‘loaf’ to the breads that shaped our childhoods

As the most widely consumed food in the world, it comes as no surprise that bread is a beloved carb in Malaysia's diet. The experience of going to the local bakery and selecting our buns of choice to put into individual plastic bags to bring home, has always been a delightful treat.

Kaya toast needs no introduction. Made with crispy toasted white bread that is slathered with sweet kaya, paired with a slab of slightly salted butter, kaya toast is a breakfast that many Malaysian can't say no to.

When served alongside a fresh cup of aromatic kopi or teh tarik and a couple of soft boiled eggs, you'll have yourself the quintessential Malaysian breakfast.

Chicken floss bun

Bakeries in Malaysia wouldn't be complete without this chicken floss bun on their shelves. The soft white bun, complemented with the fluffy and fibrous chicken floss, topped with a touch of sweet mayonnaise, is a delight in every bite. 

Potato bread

Another soft and cloud-like bun, potato bread is a staple in grocery store bakeries around the country.
