The two-night event will put two of Kuala Lumpur’s hottest bartenders and their signature cocktails in the spotlight.

The third edition of the Edrington’s Bar Takeover is back this week—specifically on March 14 at whisky bar The Wall, then at Amrith by Barsmith the following evening, featuring visiting bartenders from 8pm to 11pm.

“We’re excited to kick start the first bar takeover of the year. We’ve had two successful bar exchanges with talents from Jakarta, Indonesia, and we can’t wait to experience yet another great takeover by the team from Kuala Lumpur,” says Kelly Tan, assistant brand manager of Edrington Singapore.

Taking charge of the first night is Osmund Bernard; the co-owner and head bartender of Kenshin in Kuala Lumpur is one of Malaysia’s most prominent bartenders and Diageo’s World Class Malaysia winner in 2016. He’s known for distinct concoctions influenced by Southeast Asia, in particular regions like Borneo and Java.

He’ll be serving up his signature Nyonya, a potent and refreshing beverage made with Brugal Anejo, an oaky rum with vanilla and caramel notes from the Dominican Republic, coconut turmeric syrup, lemon, kaffir lime leaf and grape fruit soda. Surely something not to be missed.

And if you’re ready for more, Ash Mariano Jr of The Vault in Kuala Lumpur is the man at the helm the second night. Credited as one of the main forces behind Kuala Lumpur’s revived cocktail scene, his carefully curated cocktail programme has since won many fans over.

He’ll be dishing out his bold and addictive Pine Fir Yew, made with Bols Genever, a gin with strong grain and malt notes, that he mixes with thyme liquer, pine honey, fresh lemon juice, egg white and a pinch of Szechuan peppercorns.
