With the Christmas feasting just around the corner and Chinese New Year celebrations following shortly after, Crystal Jade's wholesome offerings will offer your stomach some much needed reprieve. Dishes are built on a foundation of lean meat, fish, fruit and vegetables, and arrive on your table either double-boiled, sautéed, simmered, steamed or stewed. Sounds too good to be tasty? We'll beg to differ.

Start with the double-boiled soup with dendrobium, fish maw and baby abalone, which combines the herbal properties of dendrobium with a healthy does of collagen from fish maw. An unusual pairing between scallop and aloe vera is to be found in a delicate rice paper wrap, contrasting the delicate sweetness of steamed scallop with the juicy crunch of aloe vera. You can also tuck into a hearty stew of pumpkin, Chinese yam, corn wheat and brown rice, simmered in sweet pumpkin broth; light on the palate, yet full on flavour, this dish is a meal in itself. But dessert is really where the creativity of the culinary team shines through. Forget thick, viscous yam paste desserts that accost you at Chinese banquets. Instead, Crystal Jade's contemporary take on this traditional dish features a light yam pudding topped with tangy blueberry sauce. We love how the pudding harbours whole blueberries and crunchy yam cubes. The blueberries are also a rich source of antioxidants too.

The Nourishing Treats Menu is only available at Crystal Jade Golden Palace and will run from now till end of February 2012. Do note that the set menu will not be available between 2 January and 6 February. Instead, diners can choose to order a la carte dishes.
