The popular restaurant at Royal Plaza on Scotts Singapore returns to the buffet dining experience pre-Covid times, but with safety measures still in place
If there is one thing we sorely miss about the buffet dining experience in Singapore pre-Covid times, it would have to be exploring the restaurants’ massive buffet spreads and lining up for your favourite dishes. And with the ongoing pandemic, we’ve had to make do with digital menus and à la carte buffet dishes served to your table for more than a year.
We have some good news for buffet lovers. In line with the government easing the safe management measures for F&B establishments, popular buffet restaurant Carousel has relaunched today (April 12) its buffet lines—albeit with strict guidelines to mitigate the risk of contamination and manage crowd control.
Among which are the frequently sanitised partitions and sneeze guards at the buffet counters, as well as one designated (and masked) server per line to ensure plates are not handled by various staff members and diners. Guests who are queuing up are also required to wear masks and follow one-metre apart rule.

With that, the culinary team has brought back popular sections such as the signature seafood counter—home to over 10 types of seafood including seasonal oysters, Maine lobsters and whole Atlantic salmon served with chives, sour cream, honey mustard for dinner.
The rotisserie section which is where you will find tender roasted meats has also made a return, alongside the Asian kitchen for your dose of the restaurant’s all-time favourite local dishes. That means tucking into the signature chicken rice, lobster mee soto and Singapore chilli crab.
For dessert, the popular dessert gueridon trolley will make its way again to guests’ tables towards the end of lunch and dinner service. Take your pick from a plethora of sweet treats such as macarons and cakes. Finish off with a selection of organic teas and Lavazza coffee which you can still order from the digital menu.
