Spirited and simple fare is what you can expect at this new Italian restaurant at Amoy Street.

A burlamacco is a Tuscan mascot that presides over one of Italy's most famous and exciting carnivals. This kind of spirited attitude is what you can expect at Burlamacco Ristorante. Chef Gabriele Piegaia, formerly of Senso and Alkaff Mansion; and Paolo Colzani, formerly of Iggy's and Les Amis, decided to come together to set up a venture of their own. The result is this fun and effervescent and cosy Italian restaurant specialising in rustic Tuscan fare.

The signature dishes are simple and hearty and the service is warm and jovial. Food-wise, the chopped red tuna with ripe avocado is simple but delicious. In its simplicity, the terrific quality of products is on display. The hearty and traditional Tuscan fish and seafood soup is another great dish that uses the freshest catch of the day from crawfish to octopus. Those with an affinity for pastry will be happy to know that the desserts here are terrific. The chocolate tart with homemade mint gelato is a great juxtaposition of bitter and warm with sweet and cold.
